Fragrance is an obvious example for some users, but sensitivity is individual and can involve numerous ingredients. A person with compromised or highly reactive skin may find a relatively simple, fragrance-free formulation easier to tolerate than an aromatic balm loaded with extracts chosen primarily for sensory appeal.

Water temperature also matters.

Remove what needs to leave. Do not keep cleansing simply because additional cleansing is possible.

In practice, texture can alter how a product is used, and use determines performance.

A cleansing balm provides slip. That encourages slow spreading rather than immediate rinsing.
